MISSOURI

Mark Twain National Forest

Cedar Creek Zero. Local citizens from Columbia Missouri gather at the popular Cedar Creek Trailhead in protest of a plan to log and burn 837 acres of beautiful native forest 15 minutes from the University of Missouri at Columbia. This zerocircle encloses a group of pallets which half of our native hardwood forests are cut to make. These pallets are generally used once and then thrown away. The Forest Service is mandated by law to cut 49.5 million board feet a year from the Mark Twain National Forest. The Forest Service requests public comments on their proposed sales and yet, when there is overwhelming opposition to a sale such as the Cedar Creek sale, they ignore these comments and proceed with the logging of OUR public forests.
