Toyabe National Forest

Reflection Circles.  Carola Stepper made these ZeroCircles at an abused campsite in a portion of the Toyabe National Forest, just an hour from Las Vegas, Neveda. These are her words:

" I used materials found on site, showing our human influence on the this National Forest.  As I was collecting the broken beer bottles, mirror pieces, empty gun shells and target cans I thought that these people probably were just trying to have "a good time in nature". After creating the zerocircles, I walked around in the area and picked up the trash.  I realized, sad and frustrated  that it would be impossible for me to pick up all the scattered shards of glass and trash I saw all over the place.  It felt like a microcosm or reflection of what we as a human race are doing to our Mother Earth:  The results of this "good time in nature" would be nearly permanent, difficult to reverse, possibly leading to injury of animals or humans or even wild fire.  But how can we PROTECT our National Forests from ourselves?  There are organizations who deal with clear cutting and overgrazing but the consciousness and responsibility about our actions individually lies within each of us. I am asking the universe to help each one of us to stay connected or to reconnect with this core within us."

As in much of the desert west, overgrazing of cattle is the main issue that confronts this national forest.
